Generation

by Kayleigh Ayn Bohémier

Worlds in our heads
slip out
a little at a time:
butterflies,
princesses,
songs,
wedding rings.
Breath yields wind.
Thoughts yield actions.
Sunlight yields rain.
Death is a supernova
obliterating
mysteries we never knew,
people we never saw,
words we never said.
For your world to live,
you must submit.
Another world tree
will grow,
crawling with gods,
heroes,
and underground girls
who will sing of their creator,
a man
who fell
in creation.

Worlds in our heads

wedding rings.

Breath yields wind.

Thoughts yield actions.

Sunlight yields rain.

Death is a supernova

obliterating

mysteries we never knew,

people we never saw,

For your world to live,

Another world tree

and underground girls

who will sing of their creator,

a man

who fell

in creation.
