Edge
by C.K. Ledford
burnt clichés
fill my mind
like toast-colored deserts
begging for relief
memories haunt
and circle ’round
on stale wind
which knows no boundaries
the edge beckons
feeding numbness
left behind
by your betrayal
yet I resist
and find myself
claiming strength
as tears plummet
for as much as I loved you —
you’re simply not worth it
