Magma

by JD DeHart

of course the

liquid source finds

its driven little root

deep in the earth

this is the sense

of flush and shame,

the dream of being

a sore thumb in a universe

of fine lady fingers

or else the compounded

but deceitful set of desires

that light up with skinny

trails of liquid fire

strangely cooled

in one momentary

instant of realism.
