Beatles and Beethoven

by Harmony Hodges

A lone beetle walked

Along a dusty road

His black shiny shell

Dulled

As he entered

The shadow under the bridge

He hummed, "Helter Skelter"

And anticipated horse hooves

Callously crushing him

As they pulled boats

Down the canal

And when they arrived

Just as he thought they would

He froze

And squeezed his eyes shut

The sound of their weight

Hitting the hard dirt

Was heavy and loud

Stratospheric in nature

Then it passed

He opened his eyes

He could still hear

The sound of silence

So, he continued walking

And hummed, "Ode to Joy"
