Welcome to 'With Painted Words'
With Painted Words is a monthly, online literary magazine. It was founded in September 2009 and our first issue was released on October 31, 2009.
The way that With Painted Words works is slightly different from other magazines; every month a new image is chosen as a prompt and, for that month, all submissions must have used it as their inspiration – no matter how slight, vague or metaphorical it is there must be some form of link between the image and the work.

Chris Howard is a software engineer who writes science fiction and fantasy books and short stories. He’s just finished his sixth novel, the first book in a new contemporary fantasy series. Seaborn (Juno Books, July 2008) is his first novel.
He’s also an illustrator, working in ink, watercolors, and digital formats, with work in issue 10 of Shimmer Magazine. He writes and illustrates a weekly updated graphic novel, Saltwater Witch. His web site is www.SaltwaterWitch.com
